The Land Remediation and Characterisation team specialise in the deployment and operation of mobile gamma spectrometry systems to various nuclear and non-nuclear sites throughout the UK and abroad. In addition, we provide higher level consultancy on various aspects of the waste management lifecycle and land quality.

Main Duties:

·        Transport and operation of gamma spectrometry systems in support of decommissioning and remediation programmes of work

·        Writing technical reports on gamma spectrometry works undertaken for various customers

·         Data checking to ensure good quality results are supplied to customers

·         Undertake technical consultancy work, such as critical reviews, fingerprinting, DQO reports, delicensing, Environmental Permitting Regulations documentation, waste management and characterisation plans

·         Management of projects

Required Technical Competence

•         Competent in knowledge of radioactivity

•         Excellent technical report writing skills

•         Good knowledge of legislation/guidance relating to radioactive materials

Essential

Degree (BSc, MSc, PhD) in chemistry, geology or physics

Driving licence

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Keen to learn on the job

Good attention to detail

Commercially aware

Desirable

Experience or knowledge of gamma spectrometry – high and/or low resolution

Knowledge of programming (e.g., VB Script)

Knowledge of GIS

Knowledge of conventional/chemical land contamination and remediation
