Position – Principal CS&A Engineer

Location – Hinton House, Warrington

Travel – Required 3 days per week in the office and 2 days remote. Site visits fortnightly.

Arrangement – Contract/Staffed

Rate: Up to £60/hr Umbrella DOE

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferrable.

The candidate that we are looking to recruit should have a minimum of 10 years nuclear experience. The candidate should have experience of working within a regulated and quality assured system (preferably nuclear) roles reliant upon pragmatic design judgement and where engineering was a major part of the role.

Specific requirement of a Principal CS&A Engineer:

• Provide leadership, guidance and support to CS&A design and site engineering team
• Check, review and comment on design submissions during development including site modifications, complete NFR documents and submit to Document Control.
• Review, check and accept or reject design submissions.
• Review the progress of all structural detail design drawings, calculations and documents.
• General understanding of service supports and blockwork wall substantiation.
• General understanding of fire strategy arrangements preferred.
• Understanding of fire rated service hanger supports, attend meetings with Fire Consultants to review conventional and nuclear fire issue.
• Interface with multi-disciplinary design teams on project issues. Liase with client capability as required to substantiate site issues encountered during construction.

External Works:

• Good design understanding of external works, concrete slabs and drainage.
• Review and comment on all interfaces between external works and the building external envelopes the construction progress’.
• Regular engagement with the construction team and supply chain on site, attend weekly meetings as required
• Attendance of weekly Risk reviews.

Essential Qualification and Experience required as a Principal CS&A Engineer:

• Civil/Structural engineering degree or equivalent
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) (MICE or MIStructE)
• Expertise demonstrable in major projects areas to the relevant engineering discipline with a track record of successful application of specialist knowledge or skills.
• Ability to provide strategic guidance based on knowledge and experience of projects across a portfolio to inform and direct projects and programmes
• Experience of working in a nuclear sector, new build and decommissioning projects, in roles reliant upon professional engineering expertise and judgment.
• Understanding of design principals and ability to apply them.
• Have a working knowledge of British Standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Full UK driving license.
