Job description
A Structural Engineer is required to play a key part of our organisational success, ensuring commitments to our customers are delivered on time and to the highest standard. In his role he/ she will be working closely with Senior Engineers and CAD designers to produce structural designs for Substation projects delivered across UK and ROI – Equipment supports structures design (steel/ Aluminium), Foundations for equipment support structures, transformers and other plant equipment. The job holder will have a consistent track record of project delivery along with demonstrable experience in developing diverse teams.
The duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Develop designs in accordance with the Client’s requirements and relevant design standards to achieve cost effective solutions. These will include British Standards, European Standards and industry specific design standards developed by the likes of National Grid, UK. The range of designs will include substation equipment foundations, equipment structures in steel and aluminium, multi-storey steel framed equipment buildings and elements of transmission towers, lightning masts, and the like.
• Develop to advanced level in the use of structural analysis software (preferably Robot Structural Analysis), AutoCAD, MS Office and various other in-house calculation software as required.
• Represent the structures department in multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Prepare and check structural reports, design calculations, structural analysis models and other written documents.
• Keep up to-date with industry developments and changes in standards.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and offices within the company to develop successful designs and solutions to engineering problems. Essential Skills and Competencies
• Minimum 3+ years of Power Transmission & Distribution projects experience (5 years desirable) and a Masters/ bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Desirable – UK project delivery and remote collaboration experience with overseas teams.
