Head of Quality

Job Title: Head of Quality

Reporting to: Business Development Director


Role purpose

The Head of Quality is accountable for ensuring Omexom UK & ROI maintains full compliance with all ISO accreditations, including ISO 9001 and other relevant standards. The role provides leadership of the Omexom Integrated Management System (IMS) and Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring both remain fit for purpose, aligned with industry best practice, and consistently applied across all Business Units and joint ventures.

Operating within a decentralised business model, the role requires strong influencing and collaboration skills to work effectively with Regional SHEQ, Regional Quality Managers and senior leaders. The postholder will lead a small Head Office Quality Assurance team, ensuring Quality governance, support and strategic guidance across the UK & ROI.


Responsibilities & Duties

Including but not limited to the following:

· Work proactively with the Managing Director, Leadership team, Regional Directors, Regional and Business Unit General Managers to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement

· Act as the Responsible Person for all Quality matters across Omexom, identifying and responding to current legal and best practice requirements engendering a culture of awareness and pro-active contribution

· Oversee compliance with ISO accreditations, ensuring successful certification and surveillance audits

· Ensure ISO-related evidence, documentation and audit outputs are accurate, complete and available to accreditation bodies.

· Provide Quality governance and reporting to support strategic decision-making.

· Provide input and support to the business Quality Objectives

· In conjunction with the Head of SHES to advise on, and recommend to the senior leadership team, the setting of SHEQ policy, objectives and performance measures.

· Reviewing the Quality strategy, ensuring it is fit for purpose and industry best practice

· Lead, coach and support a small Head Office Quality Assurance team.

· Serve as the escalation point for complex or cross-business quality issues.

· Leading a quality team ensuring the implementation of the quality policies and procedures on site

· Lead and ensure the review of management processes across the business

· In conjunction with the Head of SHES, continually developing and reviewing the business overall management system in line with industry best practice and business requirements

· Ensure the investigation and timely close out of reported non-conformances

· Responsible for ensuring an environment and culture of continuous improvement exists, encouraging continuous improvement within working practices

· Advice BUs on quality requirements and management processes as required

· In conjunction with the Head of SHES, ensure audits across Business Units, function and projects on compliance with the company management system and project delivery process are carried out and reported

· Lead the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the IMS and QMS.

· Liaise with the Regional SHEQ Managers and Regional Directors for the strategic planning of Quality resources

· Ensure document control for corporate documents

· Conduct audits across Business Units on compliance with the company management system and project delivery process

· Manage corporate quality processes, document control, audit planning and QMS development.

· Liaise with the IT Director to review, develop and implement management system processes

· Develop management system for business join ventures as required

· Provide support and advise across the business and function on the development of relevant processes and procedures

· Attending Omexom regional meetings as required

Person Specification

Qualifications and experience

The jobholder shall be a motivated self-starter, possessing:

· Degree qualified in a relevant subject matter, for example health and safety and environment

· Chartered member, or working towards, CQI

· Proven experience operating at a senior level in a similar role within infrastructure, civil engineering, utilities or a similar regulatory driven environment

· IRCA certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001

· The ability to influence and engage key internal and external stakeholders from operations on the ground to the Boardroom

· Strong knowledge of quality legislation, accreditation and management systems.

· A strong technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation, compliance and regulations

· Successful track record of planning, development and implementation of health, safety, environment and quality management systems in medium to large, complex organisations

· Must have strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

· Able to analyse and resolve complex issues, balancing organisational risk with business needs.

· Experience implementing and improving management systems in complex organisations.

· Excellent influencing and stakeholder engagement capability, especially in decentralised structures
