From your first day, you'll work alongside experienced engineers on major electrical infrastructure projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience in substation design while contributing to projects that support the UK's transition to a more resilient and sustainable energy network.

If you're ambitious, curious and ready to take the next step in your engineering career, we'd love to hear from you.

Kelvin Power is a specialist engineering consultancy providing electrical engineering design and consultancy services across the UK and Ireland. Our team of over 40 highly experienced multidisciplinary engineers and technicians delivers innovative solutions for major infrastructure and energy projects, supporting clients across transmission, distribution and renewable energy sectors.

We're proud of our collaborative culture, where knowledge is shared, innovation is encouraged and professional development is genuinely supported.

The Role

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you'll become an integral part of our engineering team, supporting the design and delivery of high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects.

Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you'll build technical expertise while taking increasing responsibility as your skills and confidence grow.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be involved in:

  • Assisting with the design and engineering of electrical substations across distribution and transmission voltage levels.

  • Preparing and reviewing:

    • Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)

    • Protection and Control Schematics

    • High Voltage Primary Plant layouts and elevations

    • Cable schedules and termination diagrams

    • Equipment specifications

    • Earthing (grounding) design documentation

  • Supporting engineering calculations and technical design work.

  • Participating in site visits, inspections and surveys.

  • Ensuring designs comply with industry standards, client specifications and utility requirements.

  • Working closely with civil, structural and electrical engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Preparing technical reports and project documentation.

  • Assisting with project delivery by monitoring schedules, budgets and technical progress.

About You

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, eager to learn and passionate about engineering.

You'll have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • A good understanding of electrical power systems and network fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and relevant industry standards.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A collaborative approach and willingness to learn from experienced engineers.

Previous experience in the energy sector is beneficial but not essential—we're looking for potential as much as experience.

What We Offer

At Kelvin Power, we're committed to helping our engineers build long-term, rewarding careers.

Our benefits include:

  • Competitive salary.

  • Annual Bonus Scheme.

  • Contributory Pension Scheme.

  • Ongoing technical training and professional development.

  • Support towards professional accreditation.
