Safety Advisor

30/3/2026

Seymour Whyte is seeking a Safety Advisor to support safe and compliant delivery of the Mamre Road Project. This role is responsible for coordinating on‑site safety activities, supporting the implementation and maintenance of project safety systems, and providing practical guidance to project personnel.

The Safety Advisor will contribute to building a strong safety culture, conducting inspections and audits, assisting with incident investigations, and ensuring adherence to legislative requirements and Seymour Whyte’s safety standards. This position plays a key part in promoting safe work practices and supporting the project team in achieving positive HSEQ outcomes.

Mamre Road Upgrade:

Seymour Whyte has been awarded the Mamre Road Upgrade Stage 1 construction contract by Transport for NSW to upgrade a 3.8 km section of Mamre Road between the M4 Motorway at St Clair and Erskine Park Road in Erskine Park, Western Sydney. The project will transform the current two‑lane unseparated road into a four‑lane divided road with a large central median to allow for future expansion, reducing congestion, improving safety and travel times, and supporting future growth in the region as part of the Western Sydney Priority Growth Area initiative.

Works include upgrades to three major intersections, construction of two large structural culverts and extensive drainage systems, a new noise wall and major utility relocations. The project also includes sustainability initiatives such as reusing excess materials and promoting active transport through a new shared path. Construction started in 2024 and is scheduled for completion in 2028.

About Seymour Whyte:

We are a successful civil contracting business that has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.

As a progressive, leading civil engineering firm built on the strong foundations of our unique history, we engage, enable and empower our people to be better. With you, we are altogether stronger, in building the future we want.

About the Role:

  • Mentor and support site personnel to improve workplace health and safety performance
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and reviews, providing feedback and recommending corrective actions
  • Assist with the preparation, implementation and maintenance of safety systems, plans and procedures
  • Provide timely and relevant safety advice to project teams on risk management and compliance matters
  • Support incident investigations, review reports and contribute to corrective and preventative actions
  • Manage project‑related injury rehabilitation and return‑to‑work processes
  • Maintain current knowledge of WHS legislation, industry standards and Seymour Whyte systems and requirements

About you:

  • Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree in Work Health & Safety
  • Experience in a Safety Advisor or similar WHS role within civil or construction environments
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, safety principles and incident investigation processes (e.g. ICAM)
  • Ability to build rapport with site staff, subcontractors, supervisors and client representatives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to manage data, reporting and documentation accurately
  • Current C-Class Driver’s Licence

Company Benefits:

  • Learning & Development pathways via the LMS, Graduate & Undergraduate programs, and structured development initiatives
  • NAWIC membership for networking, mentoring and industry exposure (particularly attractive for women entering construction)
  • Committees and leadership influence (safety, culture, social impact)
  • Comprehensive health and wellbeing support, including flu vaccinations, EAP and wellbeing apps
  • Employee referral bonus ($5,000) – appealing for socially connected cohorts
  • Fitness & wellbeing discounts through WHEREFIT (gym, meal plans, fitness brands)
  • Shopping and lifestyle discounts via Flare and CommBank Workplace Banking
  • Purchased leave (up to four weeks) for flexibility across life commitments

Many of our projects are not accessible via public transport and require travel between and within active construction sites. As a result, a current Driver’s Licence and the ability to drive on site are essential.
