HEB Construction is looking for an exceptional leader to drive our next phase of growth across Otago and Southland. 

This is not a maintenance role. It's an opportunity to lead an established operation, strengthen our presence in the region, and create a platform for sustainable growth across civil infrastructure, land development, and capital works. 

Based in Queenstown and overseeing operations in Invercargill and the wider Southland region, you'll have the autonomy to shape strategy, build client relationships, win work, lead high-performing teams, and deliver projects that leave a lasting legacy in the communities we serve. 

We're looking for someone with the energy, commercial acumen and market credibility to take ownership of a region and grow it.

The Opportunity 

As Civil Manager for Otago and Southland, you'll lead the overall performance of the region across operations, people, commercial outcomes and business development. 

You'll partner closely with clients, consultants, councils, developers and industry stakeholders to identify opportunities, secure work and position HEB as the contractor of choice. 

This role will suit someone who enjoys balancing strategy with execution. Someone who can walk into a boardroom in the morning, review commercial performance after lunch, and spend the afternoon on-site supporting delivery teams. 

What You'll Be Responsible For 

• Leading all regional civil operations across Otago and Southland
• Driving profitable growth and expanding HEB's regional footprint
• Building and maintaining strong relationships across public and private sector clients 
• Identifying, pursuing and winning new work opportunities 
• Leading tenders and contributing to bid strategies 
• Providing commercial oversight across projects and contracts 
• Developing and mentoring high-performing operational teams 
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard
• Managing financial performance, forecasting and resource planning 
• Bringing structure, discipline and operational stability to the business 

What We're Looking For 

You are likely an experienced Contracts Manager, Regional Manager, Project Director or Business Unit Leader who is ready for a broader leadership challenge. 

You'll bring: 

• Significant experience delivering civil infrastructure or capital works projects 
• A strong network across local government, central government, developers, consultants and industry stakeholders 
• Proven experience winning work and developing client relationships
• Strong commercial and contractual capability 
• Technical credibility within civil construction 
• Experience leading teams and building organisational capability
• A track record of growing revenue, profitability and market presence 
• A pragmatic, disciplined leadership style that creates stability and accountability
• An entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to identify opportunities and make things happen
