As our Community Engagement & Communications Advisor, you'll play an important role in helping communities, stakeholders and project teams stay connected throughout the delivery of the M5 Westbound Upgrade.

Working in a supportive and collaborative environment, you'll coordinate engagement initiatives, develop communication materials, support public affairs activities and help share the stories behind one of Sydney's significant infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with project leaders, community members, government stakeholders and industry partners to help deliver positive outcomes for the communities we serve.

The Project: M5 Westbound Upgrade

Seymour Whyte has been awarded the design and construct contract by Transport for NSW to deliver the M5 Westbound Upgrade in Moorebank, Sydney. Valued between $250M–$300M and running from 2025 to 2028, this major transport infrastructure project will enhance one of south-west Sydney’s key arterial routes, supporting economic and residential growth while improving connectivity across the region.

The project will remove a critical traffic weave between Moorebank Avenue and the Hume Highway, reducing congestion and improving network reliability. Key works include a new three-lane bridge over the Georges River and adjacent rail lines, enhanced freight access to the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal, and new pedestrian and cyclist links, improving access to the Liverpool CBD and delivering safer, more efficient travel for all road users.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Connecting communities, stakeholders and project teams through meaningful engagement and communication
• Building genuine relationships that create trust, collaboration and positive project outcomes
• Planning and delivering events, engagement activities and communication campaigns that bring the project to life
• Creating compelling content and stories that showcase the people, progress and benefits of the project
• Supporting major project announcements, milestone celebrations and stakeholder communications
• Working alongside senior leaders, government representatives and project teams to deliver clear, consistent and engaging messaging
• Identifying emerging issues early and helping shape proactive communication strategies
• Being an advocate for the community voice while helping drive positive outcomes for the project and its stakeholders
• Located on site at our M5 Westbound project office, in Moorebank

Who We're Looking For:

• Relevant qualifications in communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
• Experience in communications, community engagement, stakeholder relations or public affairs, ideally on major infrastructure or construction projects
• A people person who enjoys building relationships and working with a diverse range of stakeholders
• A strong communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to create clear, engaging and audience-focused content
• Confident developing communication materials including stakeholder updates, briefing notes, presentations, media content and digital communications
• Well organised, proactive and adaptable, with a solutions-focused mindset
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills

Many of our projects are located in regional areas or on sites without access to public transport, therefore all applicants must hold a current Driver’s Licence and have their own transport.
