Coquitlam Ridge Constructors Ltd. is currently seeking a team-oriented, self-motivated and dedicated individual to join our Operations Team as a Project Manager / Estimator - Structures.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Project Manager / Estimator – Structures is responsible for the successful delivery of construction projects, overseeing both the management and estimating functions. This role ensures projects are completed on time and within budget while meeting quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, managing teams and collaborating with various departments to optimize project outcomes.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management Responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day site supervision, managing Superintendents, Project Coordinators, and other construction personnel to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with the Division Manager to oversee all construction activities, ensuring alignment with design, budget, and schedule.
• Conduct regular inspections of contractor and subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with contracts and quality standards.
• Supervise the Change Management process and oversee project quality management, including document management.
• Schedule and lead project start-up meetings, including maintenance of Project Lifecycle Reports.
• Assist in the initial contact with clients to review job details and schedules, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
• Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any issues related to timelines, budgets, and resource utilization.

Estimating Responsibilities:

• Develop comprehensive conceptual and final costing estimates for a range of civil construction projects.
• Analyze contractual documents, specifications, and drawings to determine the scope of work for estimating purposes.
• Utilize estimating software (e.g., B2W Estimating, Autodesk QTO) to prepare accurate takeoff quantities and cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Review and evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals, negotiating terms and managing the bid award process.
• Maintain an estimating resource database, ensuring access to up-to-date product and vendor information.
• Collaborate with the Project Procurement team to deliver competitive and defendable bid proposals, ensuring adherence to all project deadlines.

Training and Development

• Mentor and coach Superintendents and Project Coordinators to foster professional development and enhance team performance.
• Participate in the evaluation of team members, maintaining open communication with management regarding performance and development opportunities.
• Represent the company in industry events, boards, or committees to promote professional growth and networking.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in construction project management and estimating, with a proven track record in heavy civil projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Project) and estimating software (B2W, HCSS Heavy Bid, Autodesk applications).
• Strong working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to manage project data and resources effectively.
• Excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and mentor team members.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to delegate tasks effectively and maintain discretion and confidentiality.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering desired outcomes.
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
• Solid understanding of construction processes, contract law, and project management principles, along with familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Eligibility for P.Eng or AScT Certification.
• Gold Seal Certification in Estimating or Project Management.
• Red Seal Trade Qualification.
• Active participation in continuous education related to construction and project management.

Pay: $85,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
