Principal Protection & Control Engineer Lead

Job Description:

Principal Protection & Control Engineer/Team Lead is a key senior role and provides technical leadership in the substation design and specifically on Protection and Control related work packages, takes a leading role in growing capability and turnover from a variety of projects in the substation design market for Kelvin Power and Vinci Energies Group. They will possess excellent technical skill, leadership, communication skills, both written and oral, have strong commercial awareness, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.                                                                                        

Key Responsibilities:

·       To lead the technical development in P&C, substation design and engineering function within Kelvin Power and Vinci Energies in the Transmission and Distribution market.

·       To act as checker/approver and technical governance manager for deliverables in the P&C, substation design and other related disciplines.

·       Lead, mentor, and develop a team of P&C engineers and designers.

·       To provide technical supervision in engineering projects related to Kelvin Power and Vinci 

Energies markets 

·       To develop capability in cyber security, SCADA, P&C, substation design (layout & electrical) and expertise in the emerging markets (i.e. HVDC) to grow Kelvin Power’s business in the Transmission & Distribution market. 

·       To lead client engagements, lead on developing the proposals, winning work and delivering projects and to empower team-members to assist in growing the business 

·       To provide technical expertise to other Vinci-Energies’ groups (i.e. Omexom) in both securing pipeline for the group and ensuring the success for the whole group 

·       To embrace innovation and implement innovative solutions and technologies in substation design engineering domain 

·       To act as industry expert in the field of electrical substation design and present and 

showcase Kelvin Power and Vinci Energies’ technical expertise in conferences, workshops and industry working groups 

Requirements:  

·       Technical expertise in substation design and/or Transmission and Distribution Networks, Earthing Design, HV/MV Cable design and routing, EPC projects, Design management, design assurance, specifications, construction and commissioning. 

·       Experience of managing a design team 

·       Ability to train and mentor more junior members of the team 

·       Experience of leading bids and proposals 

·       Client facing 

·       Passion for business development 

·       Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen

·       Chartered or working towards
