Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Business Unit: GGP
Reporting to: Regional Commercial Manager / Framework Director
Role Purpose
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role within Omexom’s GGP Business Unit, leading commercial activities across multiple projects. This role involves strategic oversight, mentoring junior QS staff, and ensuring commercial excellence in project delivery. The jobholder will interface with senior stakeholders across Planning, Finance, Engineering, and Legal, and act as a key advisor to Project Managers and the Commercial Manager.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Champion a safe working environment and promote SHEQ compliance.
Lead commercial strategy and execution across multiple projects, or where applicable possibly due to value, one major contract
Develop and maintain high-level relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Oversee the preparation and negotiation of subcontract documentation, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Manage complex subcontract packages, including interim assessments, change control, and final account closure.
Ensure timely and accurate issuance of commercial notices under contract terms.
Lead the change management process, including the preparation and negotiation of Compensation Event Quotations.
Review and approve / prepare where applicable, monthly applications and valuations submitted to clients.
Ensure robust site record-keeping and compliance with commercial standards.
Produce and review detailed monthly reports, CVRs, and cash flow forecasts.
Maintain and oversee project cost plans and subcontractor liabilities.
Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks across projects.
Represent the business in client and subcontractor meetings, including progress and risk reduction sessions.
Guide project teams in budget preparation and lifecycle cost control.
Lead final account preparation and negotiation.
Ensure efficient use of company IT systems for document control and reporting.
Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (2:1 or above)
Minimum 7 years’ experience in commercial management within construction or energy sectors
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and construction law
Proven experience in managing large-scale subcontractor packages and commercial reporting
Advanced skills in cost estimation, value engineering, and financial forecasting
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial software tools
Ability to lead teams and work independently with strategic focus
Desirable:
MSc in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management
Chartered Member of RICS or CICES
Experience in HV electrical or civil infrastructure projects
CSCS card holder
