Electrical Hardware Design Engineering – Drive Innovation in Automation
As an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer, you will develop, detail, and support the creation of control system designs for high-profile industrial clients. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate on projects that power manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure sectors, using the latest engineering technologies and standards.
Key Responsibilities – Control System Electrical Design & Project Delivery
- Design electrical hardware solutions, including control panels, MCCs, and system layouts, to meet client specifications and industry standards.
- Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, cable schedules, and layout drawings using CAD software.
- Work closely with project managers, software engineers, and on-site teams to ensure seamless project integration and delivery.
- Select and specify appropriate electrical components, taking into account safety, functionality, and cost.
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to inform design development.
- Ensure all designs comply with health & safety regulations, relevant British and international standards, and company processes.
- Support workshop build, panel testing, and commissioning activities as required.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and client meetings, providing clear technical communication and updates.
- Assist in problem-solving and modifications during manufacturing and installation phases.
Skills & Experience – Electrical Engineering, CAD, and Industrial Automation
- Experience in electrical hardware design within an industrial automation, process, or manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with CAD design tool EPLAN is essential, AutoCAD desirable.
- Knowledge of electrical protection, circuit design, and industrial control systems (PLCs, SCADA, automation equipment).
- Understanding of British and international electrical standards (e.g. BS7671, EN60204-1).
- HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and teamwork, able to work with colleagues and clients at all levels.
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
