At HEB Construction, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We believe successful projects are built on strong commercial foundations, and we're looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to play a key role in the successful delivery of one of our major infrastructure projects.
Joining our Waikare Gorge Realignment Project, just north of Napier, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the commercial success of a major infrastructure project that will deliver lasting benefits to New Zealand communities. Working alongside a high-performing project team, you'll provide commercial leadership, manage risk and opportunities, and help drive successful project outcomes from delivery through to completion.
Working closely with project leadership, delivery teams, clients, and key stakeholders, you'll provide commercial leadership across the project lifecycle, ensuring robust contract management, effective risk mitigation, and strong financial performance. This is an opportunity to influence project success while contributing to infrastructure that will have a lasting impact on New Zealand communities.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading the commercial function across the project from contract award through to completion
- Providing commercial advice and support to project leadership teams
- Managing contract administration, commercial risk, and contractual compliance
- Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier agreements
- Supporting procurement strategies and commercial negotiations
- Managing project reporting, forecasting, cost control, and financial performance
- Preparing and managing variations, claims, and commercial correspondence
- Driving best practice project controls and continuous improvement initiatives
- Championing HEB's commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing through active leadership and engagement
What you'll bring:
- Significant commercial management experience within civil construction, infrastructure, engineering, or major projects valued at $50,000,000 or above.
- Strong expertise in contract administration, commercial negotiations, and risk management
- Proven experience managing project budgets, forecasting, and financial performance
- Sound knowledge of procurement, project controls, and contract management processes
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
