We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join our site-based team in Austral, supporting the delivery of Sydney Water’s Creek Connect project.
This role requires a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a similar safety-focused position, ideally within the infrastructure or water utilities sector. You will play a key role in ensuring safe work practices on site, partnering closely with project teams to uphold high standards of compliance, risk management and site safety culture.

Be part of a large-scale, long-term joint venture between Seymour Whyte and Jacobs, awarded by Sydney Water as an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) project. As the region expands, so does the need for sustainable and resilient water solutions. The Upper South Creek Network will feature new wastewater pumping stations and gravity carriers, with the first work stage beginning before the year's end. The project also emphasises safety, digital engineering, and compliance with the latest standards, ensuring it meets future needs effectively.

About the Role:
- Ensure compliance with company WHS policies, procedures and training requirements.
- Mentor and support site personnel to improve health, safety and overall site performance.
- Assist Project Managers with implementing and maintaining safety systems, plans and procedures.
- Conduct site inspections and audits, providing clear feedback and safety improvement recommendations.
- Lead or support incident investigations and advise on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Promote a transparent, proactive safety culture while staying current with legislation, standards and industry best practice.
About you:
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety, and Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (highly desirable)
- Current First Aid and Return-to-Work Certification
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in civil construction or a related field
- Demonstrate high regard and understanding of safety principles
- Ability to build good rapport with Leading Hands, Supervisors, Sub-Contractors, Site Managers
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Current C-Class Driver’s Licence

Many of our projects are not accessible via public transport and require travel between and within active construction sites. As a result, a current Driver’s Licence and the ability to drive on site are essential.
