Site Engineer
29/3/2026Seymour Whyte is seeking a Site Engineer to support the delivery of earthworks on the M5 project. The role is responsible for providing on‑site engineering support to ensure safe, timely, and high‑quality execution of project activities. This includes monitoring construction progress, managing quality through ITPs and method statements, tracking productivity, supporting cost control, and assisting with short‑term planning and programming.
M5 Westbound Upgrade Project:
Seymour Whyte has been awarded the design and construct contract by Transport for NSW to deliver the M5 Westbound Upgrade in Moorebank, Sydney. Valued between $250M–$300M and running from 2025 to 2028, this major transport infrastructure project will enhance one of south-west Sydney’s key arterial routes, supporting economic and residential growth while improving connectivity across the region.
The project will remove a critical traffic weave between Moorebank Avenue and the Hume Highway, reducing congestion and improving network reliability. Key works include a new three-lane bridge over the Georges River and adjacent rail lines, enhanced freight access to the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal, and new pedestrian and cyclist links, improving access to the Liverpool CBD and delivering safer, more efficient travel for all road users.

About the Role:
- Provide on‑site engineering support to ensure safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of project activities
- Monitor construction progress and manage quality through method statements, ITPs, and compliance with project standards
- Establish, measure and report daily production rates for allocated work areas
- Assist with cost control, estimating, and verification of subcontractor claims and variations
- Develop, monitor, and report on short‑term programs and planning for assigned work elements
- Manage field teams and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure efficient site operations
- Support procurement activities, ensuring adherence to finance systems and governance requirements
About you:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or an equivalent recognised engineering qualification
- Previous on‑site civil engineering experience, ideally with exposure to earthworks
- Strong understanding of construction quality requirements, including ITPs, method statements and relevant standards
- Proven ability to plan, monitor and report on short‑term programs and daily production rates
- Effective communication skills with the capability to coordinate subcontractors, field teams and project stakeholders
- Current C-Class Driver’s Licence

Many of our projects are not accessible via public transport and require travel between and within active construction sites. As a result, a current Driver’s Licence and the ability to drive on site are essential.
