Document Controller

4/2/2026

Seymour Whyte, in alliance with SMEC and Toowoomba Regional Council, has been awarded the Cressbrook Dam Safety Improvement Project (CDSIP) – a major infrastructure initiative set to significantly enhance flood resilience and water security for the Toowoomba region.

Representing the client’s largest project to date, this $266 million project will raise the dam crest height and widen the spillway, bringing the structure in line with current engineering design standards.

Once complete, the upgraded dam will provide increased flood capacity, improved safety during major flood events, and ensure the long‑term reliability of Cressbrook Dam as a critical water supply asset for the region.

With mobilisation underway, we are seeking a Document Controller to manage all controlled project documentation and ensure information in use is accurate, current and compliant.

Based in Toowoomba, this role offers a generous project uplift and attractive site conditions, alongside the opportunity to work on a highly complex and technically fascinating project. Delivered within one of Queensland’s most spectacular natural environments, the role provides exceptional hands‑on project exposure and a regional lifestyle, with easy access to Brisbane, the Lockyer Valley and the Darling Downs.

About the role:

  • Manage all version‑controlled project documentation, ensuring accurate registration, distribution and use of current documents in accordance with project requirements
  • Coordinate the distribution of project documents and correspondence to relevant internal and external stakeholders via approved document control systems and transmittals
  • Register, track and file all incoming and outgoing contract correspondence in line with established project filing systems and procedures
  • Support the maintenance of red‑line mark‑ups for RFIs, NCRs and amended drawings, ensuring updates are accurately recorded and controlled
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the document control system, providing system inductions, guidance and ongoing support to project personnel

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a document control role, ideally within the construction, engineering or related industries
  • Understanding of version‑controlled document management principles and best practices
  • Experience using document management systems to manage, track and control project documentation
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, with strong skills across the Microsoft Office Suite

We have a range of additional benefits available for our employees:

  • Health & Wellbeing: discounted health insurance, seasonal vaccinations, fertility benefit and employee assistance program (EAP)
  • Financial Wellbeing: competitive remuneration, salary continuance insurance and employee share program
  • Career Development: measure your progress with our Engineering Competency Matrix and Learning & Development programs
  • Generous Leave benefits: purchased leave program, paid parental leave, and birthday leave – have your birthday off on us!
  • Enjoy shopping, fitness and wellbeing discounts through our Flare and WHEREFIT partnerships including discounted gym memberships and classes

Next steps:

  • Submit your CV online to apply for this role
  • All successful applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical and criminal history check
  • Applications will only be accepted from candidates who have the right to work in Australia
