Emulsion Spray & Water Truck Operator
29/07/2026BA Blacktop Ltd. is currently seeking a seasonal Emulsion Spray Truck Operator to join our Fraser Valley operations team. Reporting directly to the Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating an asphalt distributor (tack truck) or a water truck safely and efficiently in support of paving and road construction projects.
The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, dependable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate and drive a Spray/Distributor Truck or Water Truck as directed by the Foreman.
- Apply asphalt emulsion and tack coat at specified rates to ensure paving quality requirements are met.
- Perform dust control and water application activities for road construction operations.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete all required documentation and logbooks.
- Perform routine maintenance, including fluid checks, lubrication, and cleaning of equipment.
- Inspect and maintain spray systems, pumps, hoses, bars, and spray nozzles to ensure proper operation.
- Report equipment deficiencies and coordinate repairs as required.
- Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and road safety requirements.
- Work closely with paving crews and supervisors to meet daily production goals and project schedules.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating a Water Truck, Distributor Truck, or similar heavy equipment preferred.
- Experience in road construction, paving, or asphalt operations is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 3 Driver's Licence with air endorsement and a clean driver's abstract.
- Class 1 Driver's Licence is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of safe operating practices and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours during the construction season.
