Senior Estimator

Our Melbourne-based Pre-Contracts Team has a strong track record in securing high-profile projects and is seeking a skilled Senior Estimator to play a crucial role in our ongoing success.

The opportunity: As a Senior Estimator, you will be at the forefront of our tendering process, contributing to the successful bidding of projects valued up to $200 million. This is a chance to work on diverse and challenging projects, including roads, bridges, rail, water infrastructure, ports, and renewable energy, while playing a key role in shaping the future of Australian infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tender Leadership: Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate tenders, including first-principle estimating, quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and project programming. You will drive the end-to-end tendering process for complex civil projects.
  • Comprehensive Estimating: Perform detailed analysis of tender documentation, assess alternative construction methodologies, and provide innovative solutions to enhance the competitiveness of bids. Maintain up-to-date records of all calculations, correspondence, and methodologies.
  • Risk & Cost Management: Identify and evaluate project risks and opportunities, integrating findings into risk management tools such as @Risk spreadsheets. Present well-structured tenders at review meetings, highlighting key considerations and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Seamless Handover: Ensure a smooth transition of successful tenders to Project Managers, providing comprehensive documentation and support. Collaborate closely with Project Managers during contract commencement, assisting with financial administration and allocation of the Bill of Quantities.
  • Team Mentorship & Collaboration: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Estimators and Engineering Assistants, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment. Work closely with internal stakeholders, including surveyors, planners, and procurement specialists, to leverage diverse expertise and enhance tender accuracy.

About you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil engineering or similar related qualifications.
  • Experience using Expert Estimation preferred - training available.
  • Civil infrastructure estimating experience.
  • Demonstrated history of first principles estimating.
  • Ideally have had 10+ years delivering Infrastructure projects.
  • Comfortable presenting to senior leaders within the business.
  • Current C-Class Driver’s License - preferred.
