Substation Electrical Design Engineer

Design Engineer (Skills):
1. Primary Engineering developing SLD, equipment layouts, and section drawings, Perform equipment sizing (transformers, breakers, CT/PT, isolators) and Conduct short-circuit calculations and insulation coordination.
2. Secondary Engineering (Protection & Control)
Design protection schemes (line, transformer, busbar)
Prepare control schematics, interlocking logic, and wiring diagrams
Coordinate SCADA/RTU integration and communication interfaces
3. System Studies & Design Calculations
Perform load flow and fault level studies
Design earthing system (step & touch potential)
Develop lightning protection schemes
4. Engineering Deliverables
Preparation and review of:
SLDs, GA drawings, layouts
Protection & control schematics
Cable schedules, BOQ, and datasheets
5. Standards & Compliance
Designs comply with:
International Electrotechnical Commission / Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers standards
CEA regulations and client specifications
6. Digital & Automation Systems
Basic exposure to digital substation concepts and
IEC 61850Support integration of protection, control, and automation systems
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of HV/EHV substation design principles
Proficiency in AutoCAD / ETAP
Good understanding of protection systems and control schemes
Ability to interpret technical specifications and standards
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and coordination abilities
Qualification & Experience
Qualification: Electrical Engineering
Experience:
5–8 years in HV substation / switchyard design (AIS/GIS)
Experience in EPC turnkey projects preferred
