Design Manager

About the Role:
- Take responsibility for HSEQ compliance across multi‑disciplinary projects, aligning work with company policies, project plans and commercial objectives
- Develop, communicate and implement Design Management Plans that unite civil, defence, rail, structures and water teams, suppliers and subcontractors
- Select, manage and support design team members and consultants, set clear expectations and foster high performance across disciplines
- Lead bid management, ensure timely design deliverables and provide targeted feedback to estimators, construction teams and planners
- Serve as the central communication link between design and construction, clearly conveying changes in scope, design or methodology
- Drive innovation and value engineering on complex projects, maintain risk registers and facilitate rigorous risk reviews with design teams
- Liaise with clients to understand and manage expectations, meet technical and performance requirements and fully deliver on design briefs
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (civil, structural, rail, defence, water or equivalent) with professional accreditation highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience managing design for multi‑disciplinary infrastructure projects, such as civil, rail, defence, structures and water
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate diverse design teams, ensuring technical and performance requirements are met across sectors
- Strong understanding of regulatory, environmental and industry standards relevant to complex infrastructure design and delivery
- Track record of driving innovation and value engineering to optimise project outcomes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience liaising with clients, authorities and internal teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Current C‑Class Driver’s Licence
