About the Auckland System Management (ASM) Alliance 

The ASM is an alliance between HEB Construction, Fulton Hogan and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency to operate and maintain Auckland's motorway network. The Alliance is expected to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as suppliers to deliver exceptional outcomes for customers using the Auckland transport system.  

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity  

We have a unique opportunity to make your mark on a large-scale road maintenance contract, leading the strategic management of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, one of New Zealand’s most iconic structures and critical transport assets. As Auckland Harbour Bridge Lead, you will provide senior strategic leadership, governance and accountability for the stewardship, performance, investment, maintenance, renewals and resilience of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. You will ensure the bridge continues to deliver safe, reliable and resilient outcomes for our customers and client. 

Working on our Alliance Leadership Team, you will bring together asset management, delivery, safety, commercial, risk, and stakeholder priorities to achieve exceptional outcomes. Your focus will be on strong governance, strategic decision-making, continuous improvement, and leading a high-performing team to protect and enhance the long-term performance of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

You will be a strategic and highly influential leader, with proven success leading multidisciplinary teams, delivering complex infrastructure outcomes, and building trusted relationships. You will also have the following skills and experience:  

  • Degree qualification in engineering (Hons), infrastructure management, asset management, project management or a related discipline, or equivalent senior-level experience. 
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in major infrastructure, asset management, programme delivery or critical asset leadership environments, including experience operating at senior leadership, executive governance or client-facing decision-making level. 
  • Significant experience managing critical transport or infrastructure assets, including investment, risk and resilience considerations. 
  • Senior oversight of AHB financial performance, investment planning, budget alignment and commercial decision-making, including robust funding submissions, investment proposals and programme recommendations. 
  • Proven experience leading strategic and operational risk management, resilience planning, contingency arrangements and emergency response planning for critical infrastructure assets. 
  • Strong commercial acumen, governance capability, and experience preparing executive reports, business cases and investment recommendations. 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, judgement and decision-making skills in complex, high-consequence environments, with proven ability to build trusted relationships across clients, Alliance partners, technical advisers, contractors, suppliers and public-sector stakeholders. 
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent professional accreditation desirable.
