Lead Estimator M/F

As our Lead Estimator, you’ll sit at the heart of major bids, leading the development of competitive, high-quality estimates that position HEB for success. You’ll bring together engineering expertise, commercial insight, and strategic thinking to influence bid outcomes and ensure we deliver profitable, well-considered projects. Between bids, you’ll support project teams with cost management, commercial guidance, and forecasting to drive strong performance across delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing


  • Leading a team of high performing Senior Estimators to support delivery of accurate and competitive estimates for large-scale civil infrastructure tenders
  • Driving cost-effective, innovative solutions in collaboration with design and construction teams
  • Managing the end-to-end estimating process, including quantities, subcontractor pricing, and risk assessments
  • Actively contributing to bid strategy and ensuring timely, high-quality submissions
  • Facilitating estimate reviews, tender handovers, and continuous improvement from bid outcomes
  • Supporting project teams with commercial controls, forecasting, and cost-to-complete processes
  • Building strong relationships with clients, partners, and suppliers to enhance bid success

About You

You’re a commercially astute leader with deep experience in civil construction estimating and a track record of delivering winning bids.

You’ll also bring:


  • Extensive experience (15+ years) in estimating or commercial management within significant, large scale infrastructure projects
  • Experience in leading estimating teams and demonstrated ability to drive high performance
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and programming
  • Expertise in first principles estimating and leading complex tender processes
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate across technical teams and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)
